7 reasons to choose SailWeek over its rivals to sail Croatia
When you think of Croatia the first thing in your mind are spectacular beaches, crystal clear sea and amazing nightlife. What more could you ask for?
But with so many different companies that sail along the Croatian coastline, it’s hard to choose which one is best for you.
Before booking my trip, I assumed that all the different companies would have similar inclusions and perks, but boy was I wrong. I went into detective mode (probably a little more that I should have) to find out exactly what each company offered and by the end of it, SailWeek was at the top of my list.
Here’s why:
1. They have local skippers and staff
At first, I didn’t think too many about the importance of having local staff travel with you, but while you’re on the SailWeek, you’ll realise that it’s one of the best things about it.
With so much local knowledge your skipper doubles as your tour guide showing you how to live in true Croatian style. This means introducing you to new foods, customs and learning new words. More importantly, you learn How to party like a Croatian, and Croatians party hard!
2. You can bring your own alcohol
Speaking of Croatians partying hard, I was surprised to see that most of the sail companies in Croatia don’t allow you to bring your own alcohol on board. Many of them have their own bars on board which means you don’t have as much freedom to play epic drinking games before going out.
Trust me, you haven’t experienced life until you’ve poured a whole bottle of vodka into a watermelon and used it to meet new people at the raft party. Let’s be honest, buying your own drinks is a whole lot cheaper than buying drinks from a bar.
Of course, I am talking about Ultra & Party SailWeek. On the Adventure It’s more likely you’ll grab a bottle of nice wine and enjoy the spectacular Croatian cuisine.
3. Everything’s included
By everything, I mean everything. There’s nothing worse than going on a trip and being blindsided by all the extras you need to pay for.
I’m talking fuel, port fees, bottled water, groceries for breakfast and lunch, snorkeling gear and water taxis. All of this is included in the overall price for SailWeek which means as soon as you get on the yacht you can just sit back, relax and not have to worry about a thing.
Plus, they have Wi-Fi on each yacht! You know, for your mid-ocean Instagram upload just to make sure everyone back home knows you’re having the time of your life.
4. SailWeek starts the route in Split
Starting the sail route at the city centre of Split means that it’s easier for travellers to get to. With the airport just 25 minutes away and plenty of accommodation around, it’s one of the most accessible sail companies in Croatia. Other companies start their routes in towns like Trogir and Seget which are 40-50 minutes away from the Split city centre.
5. You stop in Bol and Makarska
SailWeek Croatia is one of the only sail companies to stop in Bol and it was hands down my all-time favorite place of the whole trip! Not only do you get to visit the infamous golden horn beach (Zlatni Rat) but you get to party on it! The AURO beach party is like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. There are DJ’s on rotation, amazing drinks and best of all, they have someone playing the saxophone – turning the party up to 100.
Imagine someone playing the saxophone to the beat of Swedish House Mafia’s: “Don’t you worry child”. It’s unforgettable!
6. The circle raft party
I’m not going to lie – the circle raft party was one of the main reasons why I chose SailWeek. Not only did it look out of this world but it’s the biggest one in Croatia!
With over 500 guests and way too many inflatables to count, the crew gets the party started with a DJ and massive speakers just as everyone jumps in together.
If you’re going by yourself or in a massive group you’re bound to make friends from all over the world at the circle raft party.
7. The club locations
SailWeek has some of the most unbelievable party locations in Croatia. On one island you’ll find yourself partying in a cave and the next you’ll be dancing the night away in a fortress overlooking the jaw-dropping views of the island.
Most of these clubbing destinations are hidden gems which means only the guests on SailWeek get to experience it.
